ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO JUST STARTED COURSEWORK TO BECOME HOSPITAL INPATIENT CODER/BILLER?
Would I take CCA, CCS, or CPC exam once I finish the exam? My school is telling us to take the CCA exam first, but I don't see any information in any of your blogs about the CCA exam, only the other exams.

Another thing I might do is check with the hospitals in your area and ask the coding department which they would prefer. There are advantages to both certifications. Laureen's Blitz videos will also help you with both. Decide what you want to do with your certification. Keep in mind it is harder for a new coder to get an Inpatient coding job when they start out. Not that you can't, but they tend to want people who have at least 2 to 5 yrs of experience.

Hi Ruth,
Alicia is right....ask the coding department in the hospital wich they would prefer. That's exactly what I did. They said CCS - So that's what I am preparing for right now. I allready work in the hospital - I am a Biller. But want to move to coding. I am using Laureens Blitz to help me prepare along with books and practice tests.

Good luck!!
